Ingredients
1⅓ cups rolled oats
½ cup raw sunflower seeds
½ cup oat bran
1½ cups crisp brown rice cereal (or 3/4 cup puffed wheat and 3/4 cup puffed kamut per Mark)
½ cup vegan chocolate chips
½ cup brown rice syrup
¼ cup turbinado sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp sea salt
Optional: add a handful of slivered or whole almonds

Directions
– Lightly oil an 8×8 square baking pan.
– Mix oats, seeds, oat bran, cereal and chocolate chips in a large bowl until well combined.
– In a small saucepan, combine rice syrup, sugar, vanilla and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
– Continue to cook and stir syrup mixture until mixture starts to thicken, about 3 minutes.
Pour the syrup mixture over the oat mixture and stir with a rubber spatula until well coated.
– Spoon into prepared pan, cover with wax paper and press mixture firmly and evenly into the pan.
– Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature.
